Adolescents are typically influenced by their peers and are often more trusting of others their own age than of adults. This makes group therapy the ideal choice for adolescents. This group provides a therapeutic environment where participants can develop better coping and interpersonal skills. The group process can be empowering because teens can use these positive skills to help each other through their own success. This group is facilitated by one of our licensed clinicians.
The benefits of our program include:
- Improved coping skills
- Supportive therapeutic environment
- Validation from peers
- Self empowerment
- Elimination of Isolation
We are proud to offer a social skills training program for children, adolescents, and adults. This 6 week program teaches social skills to individuals with or without disabilities in a relaxed environment. In addition to course instruction, participants will be encouraged to network with peers by participating in role-play scenarios and behavioral rehearsal exercises with other members during group. In order to reinforce social skills learned in the group class, members will be asked to complete homework assignments that involve performing a social task. A pre and post test will be administered to track progress. This program is facilitated by our social skills specialist Frank Guastella, LMSW.
